Student Development Program

Introduction

Student Development Cell of ACBCS carries its functions as per the instructions and guidelines of The Board of Students’ Development (BSD) of SPPU. BSD looks after the protection of rights and supervises the Development activities of the students of   university and each affiliated college. BSD promotes and co-ordinates the different students’ activities for better corporate life. BSD tries to nurture students' mental, physical, cultural growth with various activities to improve their overall personality development and to make them civilized Indian citizens to compete in the globalized world.

  • Student Development Programme focuses on the enhancement of the skills of the students apart from regular academic development.
  • It aims at increasing levels of understanding of the concepts and practical implementation of knowledge along with their research aptitude.
  • It would help in holistic development of the students making them thinkers.

Objectives

  • To increase the  General Knowledge of the student in terms of the happenings in the outside world.
  • To make them aware of the current market need/requirement.
  • To enhance their skills required for higher education and research
  • To  bridge the gap between the theory and practical knowledge

Plan of action yearwise

First year :

  • During first year, students would be exposed to develop and enhance their fundamental skill set by providing them training on subjects like Communication skills, computer proficiency etc by the in house faculties

Second year :

  • In second year our aim is to develop student’s thinking abilities and make them thinkers.
  • Students are sent to Industry for visits to study the functioning of the industry unit. (Min. 4 Units). Students submit report on this.
  • We call experts  from industry to speak on current topics who will guide them in identifying and taking right decisions in selection of their specializations

Third year :

  • In third year, students would be given assignments to develop their leadership skills  and responsibilities both on campus and in society.
  • Students are sent to Industry for projects.
  • Students would be given presentations to be taken up so that this practice  provides students with an opportunity to reflect on and share their entire developmental journey, learning, and accomplishments with peers, faculty, industry and family.

The College identifies and respond to special learner about learning needs of advanced learners during class  interaction and in mentorship. Students are performing outstanding in all aspects like rankers in exam, winners in various competitions in inter/intra collegiate like cultural, sports activities and also by participation in NSS.

  • The College organizes Expert lecturers of prominent experts as per the interest of advanced learners
  • The college forms elite club of students who belong to O Category i.e. 90% and above. The aim of this club is to motivate and guide students so that they achieve gold medal and university rank.
  • The college conduct seminars, workshop for them.
  • Provides resource materials like journal.
  • Students are motivated to use different types of facilities which are available in the college.
  • Mentorship fulfils the requirement of advanced learner.
  • College provides revelation and all breed of support to such students for their better career.
  • College organize the session of alumni to guide advanced learner about study and placement.
  • Under several program colleges are having different types of Cell where we are taking Mock Interview, Resume Writing, how to increase employability, Start up cell-Entrepreneurship development, interview skill, preparation of competitive exam,
  • Advanced student are getting maximum 6 books per semester from library.
  • In the pandemic situation All elite students solved previous years question papers and sent to subject teacher. Subject teacher intern sent submitted papers to external expert from other college and get it checked by them, got their feedback and communicated the expert’s feedback to elite student. This activity help students to get feedback from third party.
  • All faculties conducted daily subject wise online Tests for elite students through GoogleForm.This activity helped students to get acquainted with MCQ type of exam pattern as it may be the possible way of exam considering the COVID 19 scenario.

Support for slow learners:

The college takes special care of the slow learners. Slow learners are identified after declaration of the results and its analysis is done. The College conducts Remedial classes for slow learners in different subjects. Personalized guidance is being provided to students by the subject educator to reduce the risk of year down/dropout.

  • Mock practical are arranged for the slow learner.
  • Slow learners are motivated to attend extra lectures.
  • Remedial classes are arranged for failed students.
  • More preparation and practice is workout for such students.
  • Teacher’s analyses previous University question papers in classrooms.
  • Teachers are engaged in academic and personal counselling of the students for their development.
  • Sort out students personal, social and family difficulties through the counselling cell by Educator.

College has class teacher for each class, he/she knows the class students well and identifies the slow learners and carried out extra classes as per their needs.
